Q:
What would you say is the best thing about playing squash
at professional level? What do you enjoy most and least?
A:
It makes me feel proud of myself to be able to play at that level.
What I like also is to set my own objec!ves during the season.
For me, it is a way not to be too stressed at work as well. I will
tell you something: Maybe you won’t believe me, but squash is
considered as the healthiest sport even before swimming.
Q:
Which sports players do you draw inspira!on fromandwhy?
A:
This is adifficult ques!on; I would say that I try toget the posi!ve
from some sport players. I used to follow Gregory Gaul!er who is
a former number 1. He is gi#ed and has an amazing talent. He is
such a champion and brings the game to another level.
Q:
Lastly, squash is not famous in Mauri!us but is slowly making
noise in the spor!ng circle. What do you think our island can do
towards promo!ng the squash culture?
A:
To be able to promote squash, we need to have coaches that will
be able to promote the sport. The federa!on will be se$ng up their
na!onal center at Pe!t Camp in the coming years and hopefully thiswill
boost up the sports here. Squash is already at Commonwealth Games,
I hope that it becomes an Olympic game, which is the ul!mate goal of
the world Squash federa!on. This will increase the awareness about
the game and prompt more players to adopt it either as a recrea!onal
or compe!!ve discipline. The number of players in Mauri!us as at
date is around 200.
