The AfrAsian - Issue 18, March 2014 - page 2-3

Dear Clients and Friends of AfrAsia Bank,
We begin this year with some good news. The Euromoney Private Banking Survey 2014 has awarded
us in two categories, namely Fixed Income Porƞolio Management and Private Equity Investment. We
have also been honoured at PwC MauriƟus’ Corporate ReporƟng Awards 2014 for ‘Online ReporƟng’
and ‘Financial InsƟtuƟons’. For this, we wish to thank our clients and staff for their trust and unfailing
commitment.
We are pursuing our efforts to extend our African footprint and reach out to East African countries,
exploring the tremendous growth potenƟal in Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola, Kenya and Uganda.
Our presence at the InvesƟng in African Mining Indaba Conference was important to connect with
African mining’s most influenƟal decision-makers and promote the MauriƟus InternaƟonal Financial
Centre and AfrAsia Bank’s capabiliƟes as builders of bridges between Africa, Asia and the World. We
are working further on our strategy to conduct trade shows in the emerging megaciƟes to build a
resilient and diversified access to financial markets. Our Africa-focused research arƟcle takes a look
at the conƟnent’s tradiƟonal and emerging trade and investment partners as both blocks seek to
benefit from its sustained growth. I look forward to your thoughts on it.
Furthermore, in our quest to become the asset management reference in the region, we have
strengthened execuƟon capabiliƟes at AfrAsia Capital Management to offer top notch advisory
services and provide clients with disƟncƟve insights for the strategic posiƟoning of their wealth.
In this context I am also proud to announce the launch by ACM of Horizon-My ReƟrement Plan, an
innovaƟve and flexible investment product for reƟrement planning.
In line with building relaƟonships in the communiƟes in which we operate, we sponsored the AfrAsia
Bank Cape Wine AucƟon on the 14th and 15th March. This unique event celebrated South Africa’s
vinous offering whilst uniƟng the industry around a commendable philanthropic goal.
We were also delighted to welcome again world-renowned new media arƟst Joseph Klibansky who
unveiled his latest piece at the AfrAsia World of Art, celebraƟng MauriƟus as a dynamic lifestyle and
business hub.
I wish you a pleasant read and look forward to share more exciƟng news in the months ahead.
Best regards
James Benoit, CFA
