The AfrAsian - Issue 19, May 2014 - page 2-3

Dear Clients and Friends of AfrAsia Bank,
As the African specialists, we conƟnue to build bridges between Africa and the world, and I am
pleased to share with you the spectrum of operaƟons at AfrAsia Bank for these last two months.
As we know, the implementaƟon of the Investment PromoƟon and ProtecƟon Agreements (IPPA)
in MauriƟus has allowed the protecƟon of foreign investors whilst also developing a fully viable and
operaƟonal hub as far as offshore transacƟons are concerned. As we seek to use MauriƟus as the
gateway to invest in Africa, AfrAsia Bank has been present at several tradeshows and conferences,
including the STEP Conference, African Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference (AVCA), Africa
Financial Services Investment Conference, which you will be able to read more about in this ediƟon.
We also believe in shaping a world of difference. It is only natural therefore that we implement that
aspect within our enƟre line of acƟviƟes encompassing our corporate social responsibility philosophy.
Our recently launched pioneering football programme, AfrAsia Barcelona Club, a 2 year sponsored
one; a first in MauriƟus as well as the sub-Saharan Africa region, aims at idenƟfying the best talents
and giving them the required high level of training, support and capabiliƟes to transform them into
tomorrow’s football stars. In line with that, we are delighted to have received an amazing response
at the first trial, gathering more than 300 parƟcipants and look forward to fuelling the same passion
at the upcoming ones.
In line with showcasing the world of art in MauriƟus and beyond, we were delighted to welcome
French golf arƟst Hubert Privé who revealed a selecƟon of his finest golf art works at the AfrAsia
World of Art, thus exploring the limitless dimensions of this game.
On a final note, with larger MauriƟan corporates and financial insƟtuƟons seeking to access the SA
capital markets and in a bid to facilitate your access to our operaƟons, I invite you to browse through
the AfrAsia Corporate Finance site, which has been revamped and now provides you with a beƩer
overview of our financial advisory and capital raising soluƟons. This, in line with our firm objecƟve
to strengthen our close-knit relaƟonship with you and render your experience with us, a fruiƞul and
long-lasƟng one.
I wish you a pleasant read and look forward to share more exciƟng news in the months ahead.
Best regards
James Benoit, CFA
CEO
