Dear Clients and Friends of AfrAsia,
Welcome to the May Issue of our Newsletter which will give you an insight of
our achievements and some updates of the past quarter. From an encouraging
performance to a new addition to the leadership team, we are continually working
towards our 3-year strategic plan.
I am pleased to announce that our operating income has recorded a 30.4% increase
to MUR1.9bn as at March 2017 compared to the same period last year whilst our
Net Profit after Tax has augmented by more than 100% to MUR 866.4m from MUR
417.8m. We are confident that our consistent performance will help us achieve our
financial targets and close this financial year on an even better note than last year’s.
In recognition of last year’s performance, we have been honoured at the
PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Reporting Awards 2017 in 3 categories:
Financial Institutions, Best Online Reporting and Best Risk Management Disclosures.
Additionally, we have been awarded the Best Banking Brand in Mauritius 2017 by the
Global Brands Magazine. This reinforces our belief that we are on the right track to
provide excellent customer service and further success will come our way, but we will
have to work for it as one team. With customer service at the forefront, innovation
in our DNA and Teamwork as our ethos, your guidance and support will ensure that
many such recognitions greet us in the near future.
That said, innovation remains one key pillar of such success and we are happy to
announce that we are now amongst the four Primary Dealers on the Mauritian FOREX
market. To catalyse this success, we are also continually investing in our Human
Capital which is a valuable asset for the bank and to further reinforce the team, we
welcomed Kristy Ballah as our new Head of Internal Audit.
We are on a journey which has started well and we are confident that this journey
